Preventive Maintenance for Cars
If you own a car, then it is your responsibility to maintain your ride properly.
You can start making sure the oil is changed on a regular basis. This way, the life of the engine and the vehicle will be prolonged. If your car's oil has been changed, you will have to check the battery as well. Use extreme caution, do not smoke, create a spark or light a match, and always use protective gloves when you do it.
Aside from all these, you also need to make sure your car has enough brake fluid on a monthly basis. Otherwise, you can run into an accident, which can cost you a considerable amount of money for repair and injury claims. You will need to check the coolant level weekly too. Typically, you need to fill up to the level marking where it says 50/50. Be reminded though to never remove the pressure cap if the engine is still hot.
Additionally, tyres should be checked and kept inflated to the recommended pressure every month as well. You will have to check tyres for cuts, bulges, and tread wear. Unbalanced wear implies misalignment of tyres, which causes the car to wobble and make the engine work harder. Next, check the transmission fluid each month. This is done by removing the dipstick, wiping it dry, inserting it fully and removing it again. If you need to add more fluid, make sure you do not overfill it.
Those are just some of the tips that should help you take good care of your car. By doing so, you will also be able to save money and energy make the car last longer.
